SUMMARY:Fixing a Hole With Open Educational Resources
DESCRIPTION:January 28-29\, 2021 @ 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.\nHosted by the University and College Division of the Oklahoma Library Association \nDescription: It’s no secret that publishers place a premium on the cost of textbooks\, and students are left in the lurch. As textbook prices increased over time\, open educational resources (OER) have filled the need for low‐cost course materials as they are free\, open access\, and often easy to customize. \nOklahoma Library Association’s University & College Division invites anyone interested in OER for a two‐day virtual workshop. Day 1 will consist of foundational lectures in OER\, and Day 2 will feature hands‐on sessions where attendees can get hands-on experiences with OER creation and key tools—and if you’re already comfortable in your knowledge of OER but want hands-on practice\, single‐day registration for day 2 will be available! Please see the attached flyer for a full program description. \nThis workshop is for anyone interested in OER and/or working in education\, whether you’re a librarian\, faculty member\, adjunct instructor\, instructional designer\, school teacher\, or graduate student. We hope you can join us for a fantastic line‐up of experienced OER professionals across Oklahoma. \nRegister at https://www.oklibs.org/event/UCD2021 by Jan. 21\, 2021. \nFacilitators: See agenda \nFees: Day 1 and 2: $40 for OLA members\, $60 for non-OLA members; Day 2 Only: $20 for OLA members\, $30 for non-OLA members \nRegistration: Registration for Fixing a Hole With Open Educational Resources \nRegistration Deadline: Jan. 21\, 2021 \n

SUMMARY:To Proctor\, or Not to Proctor? An Encore Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Many faculty approaching a new term of fully remote instruction may now be wondering how to ensure academic integrity and identity of learners outside of the traditional classroom. This session will first provide you with an overview of various techniques to assess learners in the online environment\, some of which do not require any form of proctoring. For those cases where proctoring is necessary\, a sampling of current online proctoring strategies and technologies will help inform faculty and administrators. \nPresenters: Bucky Dodd (University of Central Oklahoma)\, Brad Griffith (Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education) \nRegistration is required for the free event.

SUMMARY:Oklahoma Association on Higher Education and Disability (OK-AHEAD) Fall 2020 Student Panel
DESCRIPTION:As many institutions shifted to emergency remote instruction in spring 2020\, all students throughout Oklahoma colleges and career tech centers had to adapt\, practically overnight\, to a new or modified way of learning. For many students with disabilities\, this shift presented new challenges concerning the sensory\, cognitive and physical capacities used to navigate online learning environments\, much less their ability to access other resources and services. During this session\, participants will listen to students’ stories firsthand and engage with them to learn how to individually ensure a quality\, inclusive learning experience for all students\, regardless of abilities. \nModerator:  Steph Rogers (University of Central Oklahoma) \nRegistration is required for the panel.
